Ingredients:

  •  4 cups Cup 4 Cup Flour® (We have found other 1-1 flours do not work.)
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 12 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 2 cups cold buttermilk

Directions:

  •  Preheat Oven to 450°
  •  Easy Method:
  • Pulse together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a Food Processor.
  • Place the butter in the food processor & pulse until it becomes a coarse mixture.
  • Add buttermilk & pulse until mixture comes together.
  • Roll mixture out until it is ¾ inch thick & rectangular in shape.
  • Use a pastry cutter to make 12 rectangular biscuits.
  • Bake for 12 minutes on a baking stone or a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  •  More Technical Method:
  • Pulse together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a Food Processor.
  • Place the butter in the food processor & pulse until it becomes a coarse mixture.
  • Transfer mixture to a bowl and add the buttermilk.  Combine the two with a spatula.
  • Transfer dough to parchment paper or plastic wrap, and flatten the dough into a rectangle.
  • Mark the dough into thirds on the long edge.
  • Use the parchment paper to fold the outside thirds onto the middle third.
  • Turn the dough 90 degrees.  Roll out the dough into another rectangle.
  • Repeat the process two more times to create dozens of layers.
  • After the third time, roll the dough into a rectangle, and mark out 12 rectangular biscuits.
  • Bake at 450° for 12 minutes.
