Ingredients:
- 4 cups Cup 4 Cup Flour® (We have found other 1-1 flours do not work.)
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 12 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 2 cups cold buttermilk
Directions:
- Preheat Oven to 450°
- Easy Method:
- Pulse together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a Food Processor.
- Place the butter in the food processor & pulse until it becomes a coarse mixture.
- Add buttermilk & pulse until mixture comes together.
- Roll mixture out until it is ¾ inch thick & rectangular in shape.
- Use a pastry cutter to make 12 rectangular biscuits.
- Bake for 12 minutes on a baking stone or a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
- More Technical Method:
- Pulse together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a Food Processor.
- Place the butter in the food processor & pulse until it becomes a coarse mixture.
- Transfer mixture to a bowl and add the buttermilk. Combine the two with a spatula.
- Transfer dough to parchment paper or plastic wrap, and flatten the dough into a rectangle.
- Mark the dough into thirds on the long edge.
- Use the parchment paper to fold the outside thirds onto the middle third.
- Turn the dough 90 degrees. Roll out the dough into another rectangle.
- Repeat the process two more times to create dozens of layers.
- After the third time, roll the dough into a rectangle, and mark out 12 rectangular biscuits.
- Bake at 450° for 12 minutes.
